Ludhiana, 5 February : The Ministerial Staff Union Education Department Punjab submitted an important memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana. The memorandum was presented under the leadership of state president Gurpreet Singh Khattra.
Through the memorandum, union leaders demanded exemption for clerks working in schools under the Education Department from duties related to the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme. On this occasion, state president Khattra said that approximately 90 percent of clerks working under the Education Department are already performing their duties as BLOs (Booth Level Officers).
He explained that during BLO duty, voter mapping work under SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) is also ongoing at war footing, due to which clerks are already burdened with considerable workload. Despite this, the administration is now deploying clerks working in schools for making health cards for the general public under the Chief Minister’s Health Scheme.
Union leaders stated that clerks are already working under immense pressure due to school administrative tasks, BLO duty, voter mapping, and examination duties. Therefore, they requested the Deputy Commissioner to exempt clerks working in schools under the Education Department from Chief Minister’s Health Scheme duty, so that school work can function smoothly.
Satpal, district general secretary Ludhiana, state press secretary Amaninder Singh Ghudani, Harpal Singh Bhundri, state senior vice president, Pratap Inder Singh, district treasurer Ludhiana, and Kamaljit Singh Kamal, district general secretary West Ludhiana were present on the occasion.
